A guided tour will introduce students to the diversity of career options within the aquarium and an insight into careers in tourism.
There will be a broad range of speakers representing the many different aquarium work areas. Students will be able to observe the functioning of different areas in the aquarium workplace through 'Behind the Scenes' visits and talk to the people who do these jobs.

A day programme for intermediate and secondary students (years 7 -11)

There will be a broad range of speakers representing the many different aquatic, reptilian and avian areas.
Students will be able to observe the functioning of different areas in the National Aquarium workplaces through ‘Behind the Scenes’ visits and talk to the people who do these jobs.
Programme outline:
- Welcome and introduction
- Guest speaker- Veterinarian
- Diver talk
- Watching the feeding in Pania of the Reef tank
- Behind the Scenes with aquarist
- Specialist talk- kiwi
- Specialist talk -reptiles
- Fish prep/feeding/medicines
- Penguin husbandry
- Animal rescue/pollution response
