Seaweek – Kaupapa Moana, is New Zealand’s annual national week celebrating the sea and takes place from Saturday 6 March to Sunday 14 March 2021. We're excited to be this year's regional co-ordinator and have worked with Hawke's Bay community organisations to share a range of events and activities so everyone can take part.More Info
We're inviting friends and caregivers to bring along their little-ones (3-5 years) to enjoy ocean themed activities, nature play, stories and crafts. These education sessions (as part of your General Admission) run twice a week, 10.30-11.30am on Monday and Wednesday during term time (starting 8 March). Your little explorers will be immersed in nature and the world around them with changing themes such as learning about our wetlands, coral reefs, Antarctica, and a range of animals, reptiles and sea life.
Now we’re in COVID-19 Alert Level 1, we’re pleased to advise that shark feeding in the main oceanarium recommences for visitors to enjoy every day at 2pm, along with our interactive activities available throughout the aquarium. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our customers, team members and communities continues to be our top priority. We want to assure you that we’re taking the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as outlined in the Ministry of Health and government guidelines. We are looking forward to seeing you, however if you’re feeling unwell, please hold off your visit until your symptoms clear to ensure the safety of our community and staff. We look forward seeing you soon.
The story of a young kororā/little penguin’s rescue has provided great inspiration for this year’s Seaweek roadshow in Hawke’s Bay.
