Ocean Youth Programme 2021

Ocean Youth Programme 2021Ocean Youth - Participant Quote

Ocean Youth is an engaging, globally recognised programme aimed at teens who want to get involved in the many aspects of marine conservation whilst developing valuable skills and meeting like-minded people.

Young ocean-loving leaders will have the opportunity to create and collaborate on projects that will help our ocean survive and thrive into the future, as well as meeting other ocean loving experts and change makers along the way.

Penguin Focus

Join this globally recognised initiative here in Hawke's Bay this 2021, delivered by the National Aquarium of New Zealand, focusing on kororā (little penguin) and the coastal environments they call home.

What Does it Involve?

The Ocean Youth Hawkes Bay 2021 programme includes:

  • Taking part in a field trip to visit our regional kororā sanctuary and conservation project, and meet the experts that founded it.
  • Exploring the Ahuriri Estuary with our local coastal environmental scientist Hannah Ludlow, and assist her with her work.
  • Taking part in a field trip to the rocky shore and connect with national and global researchers through citizen science projects.
  • Learning from marketing and communication experts on how to successfully design and implement your own conservation campaign aimed at engaging the public into action!
  • Taking part in individual or group led final day presentations, highlighting your campaign ideas that will help our local and national kororā populations and our coastal environments.

    Plus lots more!
