Meeting of the Minds
Talented and Gifted students of Year 5-8 were invited to attend a free day programme at the National Aquarium on 31 May and 7 June 2017.
Students had the opportunity to work with new people and use various skills; thinking, managing self, relating to others, using language, symbols and texts, participating and contributing, consideration, and leadership.
This year's programme was Technology in the Aquarium. Students took on the role as aquarium aquarists and measured salinity, pH and temperature of the water in aquarium tanks, first with mystery water samples and then they compared with samples they took from exhibits around the building.
Students also got a behind the scenes look at the technology that keeps the National Aquarium running and heard from one of our aquarists what it is like to work at the aquarium.
