Food & Feeding Times
The National Aquarium receives a daily supply of 20-40kg of fresh fish feed. Most is purchased from commercial suppliers with grateful support from fishing clubs and amateur fishermen who donate from competition and recreational catches.
Of course, not all the animals at the National Aquarium eat the same food. We also have regular orders of meat, vegetables and a large number of insects. We mince ox heart for the special diets of some reptiles, and green vegetables and flowers for the vegetarian residents. Vitamins and other dietary ingredients are also added to feeds.
Hand-feeding at the National Aquarium
Watch our staff hand feed the animals. Please ask at reception about other feeding times at the aquarium.
