Native Icons Guided Tour – New Zealand

Focusing on New Zealand's native icons, including the Kiwi and Tuatara, we think a Native Icons Guided Tour is the best way to truly experience the Aquarium.

The Quirky Native Kiwi of New Zealand

You’ll get to view Kiwi in a purpose-built nocturnal environment where day turns into night. You'll also get a close-up look at a Kiwi egg, learn about their quirky habits, their favourite meal, and much more from our knowledgeable guide.

New Zealand's Living Fossil – the Tuatara

When it comes to the elusive Tuatara, our guide will reveal the mysteries of New Zealand's 'living fossil' before introducing you to our famous Little Penguins.

The World's Smallest Penguin

Meet our world-famous Little Penguins. Learn all about the 'naughty' and 'good' penguins of the month! These special rehabilitated residents are a species found locally in Hawke's Bay and are the smallest species of penguin in the world. You'll gain an understanding of some of their personalities and characteristics as well as the work undertaken at our rehabilitation centre.

You'll also hear stories and interesting facts about many of our other special residents.
