Aotearoa in Space Social Media Tile w o ActivitiesGet ready to blast off on a space adventure! We’re excited to bring the Tūhura Otago Museum’s ‘Tūhura Tuarangi, Aotearoa in Space’ science showcase to the National Aquarium of New Zealand from 6 November to 14 December.

The showcase explores Aotearoa New Zealand's deep connections to space - from our earliest Polynesian navigators to the amazing space technologies and research being developed right here in Aotearoa.

Developed by Tūhura Otago Museum in Dunedin, the Tūhura Tuarangi (meaning ‘to discover space’) – Aotearoa in Space aims to inspire tamariki about space and science.

The showcase has visited over 20 cities across New Zealand and is packed with hands-on interactives to learn about space and science:

  • Come and hold a four-billion-year-old meteorite
  • Build a satellite
  • Launch a rocket
  • See how you can create (and explode) your own clean, green rocket fuel!

Entry to the showcase is free as part of General Admission to the National Aquarium of New Zealand and you'll find it in our East Coast Lab.

* Please note:  The showcase will be closed to visitors Monday-Friday, 9.30am-10.30am and 1pm-2pm for pre-booked education sessions.

We can't wait to show you our world.
