Coastal biodiversity to be new focus of updated exhibition space

The East Coast Lab exhibition will close on Tuesday 4 June and this space will be updated with a new exhibit.

It is with much gratitude that we say thank you to the East Coast LAB (Life at the Boundary) Project, our partners of eight years who have had a home at the National Aquarium of New Zealand.

Georgia McCombe, Project Leader for East Coast LAB, shares, “East Coast LAB | Hikurangi Subduction Zone M9 is carrying on its work across the east coast of Te Ika-a-Māui/the North Island. For those schools used to the delivery of the “Life at the Boundary - East Coast LAB” programme, the National Aquarium education team will now be bringing this natural hazards education experience to your classroom or school hall! With a re-developed education programme which includes up-to-date scientific research and new immersive activities for your students.

The exhibition space is going to be redeveloped with some exciting new content focused around New Zealand’s open oceans and coastal biodiversity. This will be ready for visitors in time for the July school holidays!
